My lovely little daughter started walking on her own last night!!!!  She is our second child, but it still is one of the most amazing things to see your child, no matter which number, take his/her first steps.  It's one of those moments that makes you super proud to be a parent.

Interesting Experience

I've been battling a cold for the past 2 1/2 weeks and last Friday evening I experienced something completely new to my life.

I was lounging on the couch watching TV when I felt an all to familiar sensation...I was about to have a major coughing attack. So feeling this coming on, I decided I should probably sit up.  Unfortunately, the attack hit while I was sitting up.  At this same time, my wife was getting up to walk downstairs to do something or other.  Then the attack really hit...and it was a bad one...one of those deep down in your chest, can't catch your breath, think you're dieing type of coughing attacks.

Then it happened.....

The next thing I know, I'm slouched over on the couch with my wife standing in front of me accusing me of faking something.  I had no idea what she was talking and proceeded to tell her such.  She just kept accusing me of faking something and touching my chest...and the tears started.  Well, at this point, I started to put two and two together and figured that apparently I had passed out.  After about 10 minutes of convincing her, I finally got my wife to stop crying.

That was the first time anything that had happened to me...I've been close to passing out in the past, but never actually passed out.

So, enter Google...apparently this is fairly common.  The short version is...when you cough you raise the pressure in your chest, sometimes quite significantly.  When this happens, it makes it harder for your heart to pump the blood out to your brain with the power it needs, and voila, you pass out.

Needless to say, it was a pretty freaky experience, and one that I don't really to experience again. 

Prank Wars

Last fall I saw this video of a prank at Yankee Stadium. Being a practical joker and all around ball buster, I laughed my ass off at the video. So, when I saw this post, I couldn't wait to see what they did to top the Yankee Stadium prank. Needless to say, I rolling on the floor laughing. These guys are downright cruel...I LOVE IT!

The World Baseball Classic

Back in 2005 after the IOC decided that baseball should be removed from the Olympics, MLB got together with the baseball powerhouse nations and created something called the World Baseball Classic. The first WBC was played in 2006. The USA team pretty much played like crap that year. Fast forward three years to 2009, and the WBC is back for round 2. The USA is in a pool with Canada, Venezuela, and Italy. They kicked off pool play against team Canada. The team doesn't seem to be as loaded with power hitters and the bullpen is definitely weaker with only one real closer, J.J. Putz (who has certainly been struggling, at the end of last year and through the exhibition games). All that being said, they managed to scrape out, and I do mean scrape out, a win over team Canada, 6-5. Most likely setting up a clash with Venezuela tomorrow.

So have you wondered what your parents were thinking when they named you? Was it a popular song at the time, a famous person, a favorite vacation spot, or maybe even a childhood pet? Whatever your name is, it could always be worse...check out this article from the BBC. Parents really do need to think when they name their children. I know we enlisted the help of one of our friends to come up with all the smart-ass things people could do with our child's name. Name your kid whatever you want, just please give some thought to the hours upon hours of therapy your kid is going to need if you name him/her "Justin Case" or "Barb Dwyer"...

1/4 ton of weed? Are you kidding me???

While I was listening to Stern show this morning, they mentioned that rapper F-A-B-O-L-O-U-S's tour bus was stopped and they found 500 pounds...say it with me...FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS!!!!!!, that's right 1/4 ton, of marijuana!!!! Are you freaking kidding me?! Now, I don't have a problem with weed, but come on...500 pounds! And oh yeah...he also had $6500 in cash. Apparently he wasn't on the bus, but the guys on the bus ratted him out...here's a link to more details...
